How to read Ghunnah
How to read Ghunnah
Ghunnah=sound comes out from the nose.
However, that
is incorrect. Ghunna applies on the letter "Noon" as it carries a shadd.Hence the correct
pronunciation is “innnnna”, i.e.prolonging the “nn” sound of the “noon” .
Example 2:
The word is
normally read “Thumma” or Summa.
But when we apply Ghunna to the letter meem, the correct pronunciation becomes “Thummmmma”,
i.e.prolonging the “mm” sound of the “meem ” .
Remember that a “noon
and meem mushadad(having tashdeed or shaddah)” will always be recited with
heavy gunnah.if the reader stops on a word ending with Noon
or Meem Mushaddad, the Gunnah for the Meem or Noon Mushadad still have to be
applied.
The duration of Ghunnah 2 (beats).Ghunnah is pronounced with an ‘empty-mouth
,not with full/round mouth.
